Agreement Reached: Romelu Lukaku Set to Join Fenerbahçe
Fenerbahçe have reached a verbal agreement with Napoli for the permanent transfer of Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku. The two clubs are exchanging and reviewing the necessary documents, with only the final formalities remaining before an official announcement.
Lukaku has fully approved the move and is ready to begin a new chapter in Istanbul. The 33-year-old forward is expected to sign a two-year contract running until June 2028.
More Than €6 Million for Lukaku
According to reports, Fenerbahçe submitted an improved offer worth more than €6 million for the Belgian striker.
Performance-related bonuses could increase the total value of the deal to approximately €8 million.
Napoli accepted the Turkish club’s proposal and gave Lukaku permission to leave. The Italian side had initially demanded around €10 million for the striker, who had entered the final year of his contract.
Selling Lukaku will also allow Napoli to remove one of the highest salaries from their wage bill.
Contract Until 2028
Lukaku has agreed personal terms with Fenerbahçe. The striker is reportedly set to earn approximately €10 million per season, making him one of the highest-paid players in the Turkish Süper Lig.
His two-year contract will keep him in Istanbul until the summer of 2028.
The Belgian has accepted Fenerbahçe’s sporting project and is expected to travel to Turkey for his medical examinations. Once the tests have been completed, he will sign his contract and be officially presented by the club.
Another Major Star Arrives in Istanbul
Lukaku’s arrival would represent a major signing for Fenerbahçe, who are building a squad capable of competing for the Turkish championship and making a strong impact in European competition.
The Belgian brings considerable experience, physical strength and a proven ability to score goals at the highest level of European football.
During his career, Lukaku has represented several well-known clubs, including:
Anderlecht Chelsea West Bromwich Albion Everton Manchester United Inter Milan Roma Napoli
His most successful periods in Italian football came with Inter. Lukaku was one of the key players in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A title-winning campaign in 2020–21.
He subsequently returned to Chelsea before continuing his Serie A career with Inter, Roma and Napoli.
Fenerbahçe Strengthen Their Attack
With Lukaku’s expected arrival, Fenerbahçe are securing a powerful centre-forward who can become the focal point of their attack.
His international experience and ability to protect the ball, win physical duels and finish attacking moves should provide the Turkish side with an additional offensive dimension.
In Istanbul, Lukaku will join a squad featuring several established names, including N’Golo Kanté, Fred, Ederson, Marco Asensio and Talisca.
The presence of these players clearly demonstrates Fenerbahçe’s ambition to reclaim the Turkish title and build a team capable of competing at a high level in Europe.
Only Paperwork and Medical Tests Remain
Fenerbahçe and Napoli have agreed on the main terms of the transfer and are now finalising the paperwork.
The deal has not yet been officially announced, but an agreement has been reached between all parties. Lukaku’s trip to Istanbul, medical examinations and contract signing are the final steps before his presentation in the yellow-and-navy shirt.
After many years in Europe’s strongest leagues, Romelu Lukaku is ready for a new challenge: leading Fenerbahçe’s attack and competing for trophies in Turkey.
