YEREVAN, Armenia — Albania produced one of their most convincing performances of the tournament on Friday, defeating Gibraltar 87-39 in the Classification Group 5-9 at the FIBA U16 EuroBasket Division C. Led by an outstanding display from Kristo Como, the young Albanians overwhelmed their opponents with relentless defense, dominant rebounding, and efficient team basketball at the Mika Sport Complex.

Although Gibraltar remained competitive early in the contest, Albania took complete control after the opening period, winning the remaining three quarters comfortably to secure a commanding 48-point victory.

Como Leads the Way

Kristo Como delivered a complete all-around performance, finishing with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals in just over 31 minutes. The talented guard posted an efficiency rating of 22, recorded a game-best +35 plus/minus, and connected on 4-of-10 three-point attempts, providing both offensive firepower and defensive intensity throughout the game.

Balanced Albanian Attack

Albania received major contributions from several players as the offense clicked from every position.

Mikel Beqaraj was exceptional with 20 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals, matching Como's 22 efficiency rating while finishing with a +32 plus/minus.

Aron Klosi controlled the paint with 9 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, while Samuel Bazhdari added 11 points and 6 rebounds. Danjel Shullani also reached double figures with 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, highlighting Albania's balanced scoring effort.

For Gibraltar, Jack Cassaglia battled hard despite the defeat, recording 19 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 assist, finishing with an efficiency rating of 15.

Defense Sets the Tone

Albania's defensive pressure proved to be the difference, forcing turnovers, contesting every shot, and dominating the rebounding battle. Their aggressive approach prevented Gibraltar from establishing any offensive rhythm, while quick transition play allowed Albania to steadily extend its advantage throughout the second half.

The victory showcased the depth and teamwork of the Albanian squad, with multiple players making significant contributions on both ends of the floor.

Looking Ahead

The emphatic 87-39 victory strengthens Albania's position in the Classification Group 5-9 and provides a major confidence boost as the team continues its campaign at the FIBA U16 EuroBasket Division C in Yerevan.

With standout performances from Kristo Como and Mikel Beqaraj, Albania demonstrated the quality and potential of its young generation, sending a strong message heading into the remainder of the tournament.
