Berat Djimsiti Close to Saudi Arabia Move as Atalanta and Al-Diriyah Reach Verbal Agreement

Berat Djimsiti is close to ending his long spell with Atalanta. The Bergamo-based club and Al-Diriyah have reached a verbal agreement for the permanent transfer of the Albania national team captain to Saudi Arabia.

According to reports from Italy, Al-Diriyah will pay Atalanta approximately €3 million, while the 33-year-old defender is expected to sign a contract valid until June 2028.

Djimsiti received an important financial offer from the Saudi club and asked Atalanta’s management to allow him to leave. The Italian side would have preferred to keep him for another season but decided to respect the Albanian international’s wishes.

The deal has not yet been officially announced, but negotiations have entered their final stages. Barring any unexpected developments, Djimsiti will bring his historic chapter with the Nerazzurri to an end.

The defender joined Atalanta in 2016 and became one of the most important figures in the team. He has made more than 300 appearances for the club and played a leading role in Atalanta’s historic UEFA Europa League triumph during the 2023–24 season.

Meanwhile, Atalanta have already begun searching for his replacement. Udinese’s Danish defender Thomas Kristensen is reportedly their main target, while Jean-Clair Todibo is also being considered as an alternative.

Djimsiti’s potential departure would mark the end of an era in Bergamo and the beginning of a new adventure for the Albania captain. The proposed deal is expected to bring Atalanta approximately €3 million, with the player signing a contract through 2028.
