TORONTO – Canada secured its first-ever point in FIFA World Cup history after battling back to earn a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina in an entertaining Group B clash at Toronto Stadium.

The co-hosts entered the match determined to make a statement in front of their home supporters, but it was Bosnia and Herzegovina who struck first. After a strong opening spell, the Dragons capitalized on their aerial dominance from set pieces. In the 21st minute, defender Sead Kolašinac flicked on a corner kick, allowing Jovo Lukić to power a header past the Canadian goalkeeper and give Bosnia a deserved lead.

Canada responded with energy and attacking intent. Jonathan David came close to equalizing after a fortunate rebound, but Bosnian goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj was equal to the task. Tani Oluwaseyi also missed a golden opportunity, firing over the bar from inside the penalty area.

The second half belonged largely to Jesse Marsch's side. Oluwaseyi dazzled the crowd with skill and movement, while Stephen Eustáquio, captaining the side in the absence of Alphonso Davies, orchestrated Canada's attacks from midfield. Richie Laryea nearly found the breakthrough, only for Kolašinac to produce a remarkable goal-line clearance.

As the pressure mounted, Marsch turned to his bench. The decisive moment arrived in the 78th minute when substitute Cyle Larin made an immediate impact. Just two minutes after entering the match, the experienced striker spun inside the box and fired home from a precise assist by Promise David, sending the Toronto crowd into celebration.

Canada continued pushing for a winner in stoppage time, and Larin nearly completed the comeback, but Bosnian defender Tarik Muharemović produced a crucial block to preserve the draw.

The result is a historic milestone for Canada, ending a six-match losing streak in FIFA World Cup final tournaments and securing the nation's first-ever point on football's biggest stage.
