Dinamo City Writes Another Beautiful Chapter in Its European History

By Elite Sport Vizion ·

Dinamo City has written another beautiful chapter in its European history. The “Blue Submarine” overturned a 1–0 first-leg defeat against Auda, triumphed 4–0 at Elbasan Arena, and secured a place in the UEFA Conference League play-offs with a 4–1 aggregate victory.

At the head of this adventure stands Ilir Daja—the helmsman steering Dinamo toward its great return to the European stage.

HELMSMAN DAJA AND A DINAMO THAT BELIEVES

In football, there are coaches who build formations and coaches who build a mentality. Ilir Daja is doing both.

When Dinamo returned from Latvia following a 1–0 defeat, the situation was difficult—but not hopeless. On the contrary, there was a strong belief within the Blue camp that the tie could be turned around.

At Elbasan Arena, Dinamo did not take the field merely to recover a one-goal deficit. They entered it determined to dominate.

Daja’s team played with personality, aggression, discipline, and, above all, belief. The 4–0 scoreline was the clearest expression of a Dinamo side that had no intention of leaving anything to chance.

It was a demonstration of strength.

QARDAKU STARTS THE “SUBMARINE’S” ENGINES

Dinamo began the match at a high tempo, immediately searching for the goal that would level the aggregate score.

The Latvian resistance lasted until the 36th minute.

Eridon Qardaku took responsibility and, with a magnificent strike from the edge of the penalty area, sent the ball into the corner of the net.

1–0.

At that moment, the aggregate score was level, and everyone inside Elbasan Arena realized that the comeback was possible.

But Dinamo were not satisfied.

The second blow arrived in the 45th minute. Following a beautiful move in which Qardaku was once again heavily involved, Qefalia scored a spectacular goal.

2–0.

Within nine minutes, Dinamo had turned everything around.

They had started the evening facing elimination, but entered halftime as the team heading to the play-offs.

AYODEJI AND FADAIRO SEAL THE CELEBRATION

Anyone expecting a more defensive Dinamo in the second half was mistaken.

Daja’s philosophy did not change.

Dinamo continued to attack.

In the 51st minute, a quick counterattack was finished by Ayodeji, who scored the third goal.

3–0.

The “Blue Submarine” was now in complete control of the contest.

The final seal arrived in the 79th minute. Fadairo came off the bench and scored Dinamo’s fourth goal.

Dinamo City 4–0 Auda.

Aggregate score: 4–1.

From a 1–0 defeat in Latvia to a spectacular triumph in Elbasan—a comeback that demonstrated the character of this team.

QARDAKU: “WE ARE NOT AFRAID OF ANY OPPONENT”

The symbolism of Qardaku’s goal was even greater for the Shkodër-born footballer himself.

He recalled that he had also scored in last season’s third European qualifying round against Hajduk.

“It feels like déjà vu,” Qardaku said after the match.

However, the most meaningful part of his comments concerned the mentality that has been created within Dinamo.

According to him, the team enters every match with the same philosophy, whether in the domestic league or in Europe: to win and dominate.

“We are not afraid of any opponent,” was his message.

Qardaku also revealed a detail that explains much of what we are now seeing on the pitch.

The players began intensive preparations on June 1, sacrificing their holidays and time with their families to be ready for the European campaign.

“That is why we give 200 percent in every match,” he told SuperSport.

Perhaps that is where a significant part of this Dinamo side’s secret can be found.

DAJA: “NOTHING HAPPENS BY CHANCE”

Ilir Daja gave all the credit to his players.

“Today, it was all about the Dinamo boys on the pitch,” the coach said after the match, emphasizing the team’s sacrifice and commitment.

He then delivered the sentence that perhaps best summarizes his philosophy:

“Nothing happens by chance.”

Dinamo had spent approximately 15 years away from European qualifying competition. Today, the club is rebuilding its name beyond Albania’s borders.

Daja does not view this merely as a momentary success, but as an investment in the future.

Every European victory improves the club’s coefficient, and a better coefficient could lead to more favorable draws in future seasons.

His objective is for Dinamo, in the not-too-distant future, to become one of the seeded teams in European draws.

ARDIAN BARDHI: “DAJA IS DESTINED TO STAY AT DINAMO”

In the stands, another man was enjoying the fruits of the project.

President Ardian Bardhi did not hide his happiness.

“I am Ardi of Dinamo. I am both the owner and president of the club,” he declared.

Bardhi recalled that he took charge of Dinamo with the desire to restore the club to the top, and he considers Ilir Daja’s arrival one of the decisive moments of the project.

The president was categorical:

“We have the best coaching staff and the best coach.”

He then made an even stronger statement:

“Daja is destined to remain at Dinamo forever.”

Those words demonstrate the relationship and trust that exist between the club’s leadership and the coach.

Bardhi also confirmed that Dinamo’s transfer business is not finished. The club is searching for players who fit Daja’s philosophy and intends to strengthen the squad further.

A PROJECT THAT IS TAKING SHAPE

The success against Auda cannot be viewed in isolation.

Dinamo are building continuity.

The coach, president, and players all speak about the same things: hard work, sacrifice, unity, belief, and ambition.

Beyond the 4–0 scoreline, that is perhaps Dinamo’s most important victory.

An identity has been created.

When a team begins to believe it can win even when it finds itself behind, everything changes.

NOW COMES PAFOS

Europe does not give you much time to celebrate.

Dinamo will face Pafos FC in the play-off round.

The Cypriot side enters the Conference League following its elimination from the UEFA Europa League against Red Bull Salzburg and represents an opponent of a very high level.

Daja acknowledged this himself.

The coach wants his team to keep its feet firmly on the ground, describing Pafos as one of the strongest opponents in this round.

According to the play-off schedule, the two matches are set to be played on August 20 and 27, 2026, with the winner securing a place in the Conference League league phase.

Daja also wants two or three quality reinforcements before the transfer window closes so that his team can compete not only in Europe but also pursue its long-term domestic objectives.

THE “BLUE SUBMARINE” IS BACK IN EUROPEAN WATERS

Dinamo has a great history in Albanian football.

But history alone is not enough.

You must create new history.

That is what Ilir Daja’s team is attempting to do.

From Teqja in goal to captain Bruno Dita, and from Qardaku and Qefalia to Ayodeji, Fadairo, and the rest of the squad, this Dinamo side is creating the belief that the blue shirt can once again carry weight in Europe.

The four goals against Auda were more than just four goals.

They were evidence of a philosophy.

They were the reward for work that, according to the protagonists themselves, began at the start of June.

They were a signal that, after many years away from the European stage, Dinamo does not simply want to return as a participant.

It wants to return as a leading force.

Pafos will provide a much tougher test.

But one thing is already certain:

The “Blue Submarine” continues its journey.

And Ilir Daja is at the helm.
