Egypt’s Win Will Be Remembered for Years to Come

The Pharaohs end a 92-year wait for their first FIFA World Cup victory with a memorable 3-1 win over New Zealand.

Egypt have finally broken their FIFA World Cup™ curse.

After decades of disappointment, the Pharaohs secured the first World Cup victory in their history with a memorable 3-1 comeback win over New Zealand in a crucial Group G clash in Vancouver.

It was a historic night for Egyptian football. Since their World Cup debut in 1934, when they suffered a 4-2 defeat to Hungary in Naples, Egypt had failed to record a single victory on football’s biggest stage. That unwanted record finally came to an end after 92 years of waiting.

One of the heroes of the night was goalkeeper Mostafa Shoubir, who revealed that the first person he called after the historic victory was his mother.

“I FaceTimed my mother. She celebrated in the Egyptian way – Egyptians will understand exactly how she celebrated,” Shoubir told FIFA after the match.

The emotional moment carried extra significance because his father, Ahmed Shoubir, was part of Egypt’s squad at the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy, where the team’s long wait for a win continued.

Now, more than three decades later, his son has become part of Egyptian football history.

Salah Leads the Pharaohs

At the other end of the pitch stood Egypt’s captain and talisman, Mohamed Salah.

The Liverpool star scored the decisive goal in the 67th minute before setting up Trezeguet for Egypt’s third goal, ensuring the Pharaohs secured all three points.

Speaking after the match, Salah expressed his pride in helping his nation achieve a historic milestone.

“I told the players before the game that we could make history today and continue making history in the next match. If we finish top of the group, it will be remembered for years to come.”

The Egyptian captain emphasized that the achievement belonged to the entire team.

“This wasn’t just about me. Trezeguet and Zizo also scored. But to score and play a part in making history for my country is something I’m very proud of.”

Top of Group G

The victory sends Egypt to the top of Group G and puts them in a strong position to qualify for the Round of 32.

Salah, who has now scored in three of Egypt’s last four World Cup matches, is determined to keep the momentum going.

“Today we celebrate this victory. Tomorrow our focus shifts to the final group game. We want to win that match as well, finish top of the group, and make our supporters proud.”

After 92 years of waiting, Egypt finally has its first World Cup victory.

And according to Mohamed Salah, this could be the beginning of a story that Egyptian football fans will remember for generations.
