Fisnik Asllani Waits for Barcelona, Delays RB Leipzig Transfer

By Elite Sport Vizion ·

Fisnik Asllani is delaying an almost finalized transfer to RB Leipzig because his greatest ambition is to play for FC Barcelona.

TSG Hoffenheim managing director Andreas Schicker has confirmed that the club is negotiating with several teams interested in activating the striker’s release clause, valued at between €29 million and €30 million.

The current transfer situation

RB Leipzig remains Asllani’s most likely destination. The German club is prepared to pay his release clause but must first sell several players from its overcrowded squad before officially completing the deal.

Meanwhile, FC Barcelona is the Kosovo international’s dream destination. Asllani’s representatives have held talks with the Catalan club, while the player has reportedly asked Leipzig for more time because a move to Spain is his absolute priority.

Borussia Dortmund also pursued the 23-year-old striker earlier in the transfer window. However, Asllani has reportedly ruled out that possibility and is now focused exclusively on Leipzig or Barcelona.

Why has Barcelona’s interest intensified?

Barcelona initially viewed Asllani as a secondary option behind Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez. However, the Catalan club’s interest has increased significantly because of two important developments.

Barcelona’s alternative target, Eli Junior Kroupi, suffered a serious foot injury that requires surgery. The setback forced the club to reconsider its shortlist of potential attacking reinforcements.

Another key factor is Hansi Flick’s approval. The German coach admires Asllani’s ability to finish with both feet, his mobility and his profile as a powerful yet dynamic centre-forward.

Hoffenheim has kept Asllani out of its recent pre-season friendlies to avoid any injury risk ahead of his expected departure.
