Jude Bellingham's Brace Sends England into the 2026 FIFA World Cup Semi-finals
FIFA
MIAMI, USA – Jude Bellingham emerged as England's hero, scoring twice in a dramatic 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway to send the Three Lions into the FIFA World Cup 2026™ semi-finals.
In a fiercely contested quarter-final at Miami Stadium, England came from behind to end Norway's historic World Cup run and book a place among the tournament's final four. Thomas Tuchel's side will now face either defending champions Argentina or surprise package Switzerland in the semi-finals.
Norway Strike First
After a cautious opening from both sides, Norway began to take control of the match.
The first warning came from Erling Haaland, whose header was comfortably saved by Jordan Pickford. Moments later, in the 36th minute, Andreas Schjelderup gave Norway a deserved lead, calmly finishing into the far corner after a dangerous attacking move.
Bellingham Brings England Back
Just when it looked as though Norway would take their advantage into halftime, Jude Bellingham stepped up.
The Real Madrid midfielder produced a powerful driving run before finishing clinically in first-half stoppage time (45+2') to level the score at 1-1.
Shortly afterward, Harry Kane thought he had put England ahead, but his goal was ruled out for offside.
VAR Keeps England Alive
Norway believed they had regained the lead just before the hour mark when Torbjørn Heggem found the back of the net following a corner.
However, after a VAR review, the goal was disallowed because Erling Haaland was judged to have pushed Elliot Anderson in the build-up.
Norway continued to threaten, with Kristoffer Ajer heading against the crossbar, while England also came close through Djed Spence, sending the match into extra time.
Bellingham Delivers the Winner
England's match-winner arrived in the 93rd minute.
Substitute Morgan Rogers unleashed a powerful shot that Norway goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland could only spill, and Bellingham reacted quickest to slot home the rebound and seal England's dramatic comeback victory.
The final whistle confirmed a 2-1 triumph and another World Cup semi-final appearance for the Three Lions.
Semi-final Awaits
England will now travel to Atlanta Stadium for the semi-final on July 15, where they will meet the winner of the quarter-final between Argentina and Switzerland.
