The crowning moment of an extraordinary European Championship for Albanian weightlifting came courtesy of Maida Lozi!
The Albanian national team athlete was crowned European Youth Champion in the women’s 77 kg category, winning two gold medals and one silver.
At the end of an event marked by a high competitive standard, the Albanian flag was raised above the podium as the National Anthem echoed through the arena in Kosovo.
It was a moment of pride not only for Maida and the national team but for the entire Albanian sporting community.
Two gold medals and one silver
Maida Lozi completed the competition as European champion in the total—the result that determines the category’s overall champion.
The Albanian weightlifter won:
🥇 Gold medal in the total 🥇 Gold medal in one discipline 🥈 Silver medal in the other discipline
The complete figures for the weight lifted in each attempt had not yet been published by accessible official sources when this article was prepared. For that reason, Elite Sport Vizion will not report any figures until they are officially confirmed.
However, the most important result is beyond doubt: Maida Lozi is the European Youth Champion in the women’s 77 kg category.
A victory built through hard work and sacrifice
This major achievement is the product of years of discipline, sacrifice and daily dedication.
Maida has been guided throughout her development by her personal coach, Ervis Tabaku, as well as the head coach of Albania’s youth national team, Florenc Çela.
Her success in Kosovo rewards not only her individual talent but also the work of the technical staff who have supported her development.
In a competition where every kilogram and every attempt could change the standings, Lozi demonstrated strength, composure and sporting maturity, leaving her rivals behind and reaching the top of the European podium.
From U-15 champion to European Youth Champion
Maida’s success is no coincidence. She has been regarded as one of Albanian weightlifting’s greatest prospects for several years.
At the 2024 European U-15 Championships in Thessaloniki, Lozi became a three-time European champion in the women’s 76 kg category. She lifted 75 kg in the snatch and 95 kg in the clean and jerk for a 170 kg total, winning three gold medals.
At the 2025 European U-17 Championships in Madrid, she continued her development, recording a 188 kg total and competing among the continent’s leading young athletes.
Her latest triumph in the 77 kg youth category clearly demonstrates her progress—from a European U-15 champion to an athlete capable of succeeding at increasingly demanding levels of continental competition.
A major name for Albania’s future
Born on February 14, 2009, Maida Lozi is only 17 years old. Despite her young age, she has already built an impressive record in international competitions.
The European Weightlifting Federation’s official documents listed her in the 77 kg category with an entry total of 195 kg, placing her among the leading contenders before the competition.
The fact that Lozi handled the pressure and finished at the top of Europe underlines her exceptional potential.
Albania is building a new winning generation
Maida Lozi’s three medals completed another highly successful European Championship for Albanian weightlifting.
Other young Albanian athletes also produced excellent results. Antonino Mullisi became European champion in the snatch, set a European record and earned another medal in the total, while Esmond Marku secured two bronze medals.
These achievements demonstrate that Albania is not relying on a single outstanding athlete. The country is gradually developing a new generation of weightlifters capable of competing at the highest international level.
The Albanian Weightlifting Federation’s strategy of supporting young athletes and ensuring a successful transition between generations is producing tangible results.
The medals won by Lozi, Mullisi and Marku offer the clearest evidence that the future of Albanian weightlifting can be as successful as its proud tradition.
The Albanian anthem echoes through Kosovo
Maida Lozi’s triumph carried even greater emotional significance because it was achieved in Kosovo.
When the Albanian athlete stood on the highest step of the podium, the sound of the Albanian National Anthem filled the arena, creating an unforgettable moment.
It was a scene in which sport, the national flag and Albanian identity came together in one powerful emotion.
Maida Lozi did not simply win two gold medals and one silver. She confirmed her status as one of the leading athletes of Albania’s new generation and one of the country’s greatest hopes for the future.
Congratulations, Maida! Albania is proud of you! 🇦🇱🏋️♀️🥇🥇🥈
