MARIO MITAJ ONE STEP AWAY FROM ROMA
The Albanian defender close to a €10 million transfer to Roma
Rome, Italy – Albanian footballer Mario Mitaj is very close to returning to Italian football, as AS Roma are finalizing the details of the transfer for the left-back from Al-Ittihad.
According to the latest transfer reports, the agreement between the parties is in its final stages and the deal is expected to be worth around €10 million. The new Roma head coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, has given his final approval for the signing of the 22-year-old Albanian, whom he considers an ideal reinforcement for his tactical system.
Roma are looking to strengthen their defensive flanks for the upcoming season, especially ahead of their return to the UEFA Champions League. Following the departure of Kostas Tsimikas, who is set to return to Liverpool FC after the end of his loan spell, Mitaj’s profile is seen as the perfect solution thanks to his ability to play both as a traditional left-back and as an attacking wing midfielder.
The operation is at a very advanced stage, and the Albanian player could undergo medical examinations in the Italian capital as early as next week.
Mitaj’s career in Saudi Arabia has not been as successful as expected. At Al-Ittihad, he made only around ten official appearances, mainly due to restrictions on the number of foreign players in the league. However, his talent has continued to attract interest from major European clubs, with his name previously being linked to Juventus FC and several well-known Spanish sides.
If the transfer is completed, Mitaj will become one of the most important Albanian footballers to play in the Italian top flight, opening a new and very promising chapter in his career.
For Albanian fans, the news of Mario Mitaj’s potential move to Roma represents another moment of pride, as the Red and Black defender looks ready to test himself at one of Europe’s most prestigious clubs.
