Milan Strike in the Transfer Market: Agreement Reached for Diego Moreira

By Elite Sport Vizion ·

AC Milan have pulled off a surprise move in the transfer market, reaching an agreement with Strasbourg for the signing of Diego Moreira.

According to reports from Italy, the overall value of the deal could reach approximately €50 million, including bonuses. The French club will also retain a percentage of any future sale of the player.

Other sources value the agreement at more than €40 million between the guaranteed fee and bonuses. The final financial details are therefore expected to become clear once the transfer is officially announced.

Moreira is expected to travel to Milan on Tuesday, August 18, to undergo his medical examinations and sign his contract. Until those procedures are completed and the clubs issue an official announcement, the transfer should be considered agreed in principle but not yet official.

The 22-year-old Belgian winger had attracted interest from several major clubs in England, Germany and Italy, but his preference was to join Milan. His agent, Jorge Mendes, also played an important role in negotiating the agreement.

Moreira is highly rated by head coach Ruben Amorim because of his speed, dribbling ability, creativity and tactical versatility. He can operate as a left winger, a wide midfielder or on the right flank, where he can cut inside onto his stronger left foot and attack the goal.

In Amorim’s system, the Belgian international could cover the entire left flank or play as one of the two attacking players behind striker Gonçalo Ramos. His versatility will provide the Portuguese coach with several valuable options in attack.

Born in Liège, Moreira developed in the academies of Standard Liège and Benfica. He joined Chelsea in 2023 and also spent time on loan at Lyon. He later moved to Strasbourg, where he fulfilled his potential and established himself as one of the French club’s most sought-after players.

Moreira represents Belgium at senior international level, having previously played for Portugal’s youth national teams. He was also part of Belgium’s squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He is expected to become Milan’s third major signing of the transfer window. The investment demonstrates the club’s support for Amorim’s project and its ambition to build a young, dynamic and competitive squad.

If the transfer is officially completed for the reported fee, Diego Moreira will become one of the most expensive signings in AC Milan’s history.
