Muriqi Returns Home: Fenerbahçe Seal €15 Million Deal for Kosovan Star
Fenerbahçe have completed one of the biggest transfers of the summer, reaching a full agreement with Mallorca for the signing of Kosovan striker Vedat Muriqi in a deal worth €15 million.
The move marks a sensational return to Istanbul for the 32-year-old forward, who previously enjoyed a successful spell with the Yellow Canaries before moving abroad. Muriqi has agreed personal terms on a contract that will keep him at Fenerbahçe until June 2029.
Deal Details
According to reports, Mallorca will receive a total package of €15 million, with the payment structure spread over three years. The Spanish club also secured a 10 percent sell-on clause, ensuring they will benefit from any future transfer involving the striker.
Muriqi is expected to arrive in Istanbul later this week to undergo medical examinations before the official announcement.
A Presidential Promise Fulfilled
The transfer carries significant symbolic value for Fenerbahçe. Following the club's presidential election, chairman Aziz Yıldırım made the return of Muriqi one of his major campaign promises. Just weeks after securing victory, Yıldırım has delivered by bringing back one of the club's most beloved former stars.
Muriqi remains fondly remembered by Fenerbahçe supporters for his outstanding performances during the 2019/20 season, when he scored 17 goals and established himself as one of the most dangerous forwards in Turkish football.
Stellar Season Despite Relegation
The Kosovan international arrives in Turkey after arguably the finest season of his career. Despite Mallorca's relegation from La Liga, Muriqi finished the 2025/26 campaign as the league's second-highest scorer with an impressive 23 goals.
His remarkable performances saw him break Samuel Eto'o's long-standing Mallorca record for most La Liga goals scored for the club, cementing his status as a modern legend on the island.
However, his goals were not enough to prevent Mallorca from finishing 18th and suffering relegation to Spain's second division, making a summer departure almost inevitable.
Huge Expectations in Istanbul
Fenerbahçe supporters will now hope Muriqi can reproduce the form that made him one of Europe's most effective strikers last season. With his physical presence, aerial dominance and proven goalscoring ability, the Kosovan forward is expected to become a central figure in the club's ambitions for domestic and European success during the 2026/27 campaign.
The homecoming is complete, and all eyes will now be on Vedat Muriqi as he prepares to wear the famous yellow and navy shirt once again.
