Real Madrid Reach Agreement for Yan Diomandé in Deal Worth Over €100 Million

Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement with RB Leipzig for the transfer of 19-year-old Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomandé. The overall financial package will exceed €100 million.

The decisive breakthrough came after negotiations between the two clubs intensified rapidly over the weekend. The player has also given his final approval to complete the move to Spain.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain have officially withdrawn from the negotiations after refusing to pay what the French club’s management considered an excessive fee.

Details of the Agreement

Real Madrid’s opening offer of €90 million plus €10 million in bonuses was rejected by RB Leipzig earlier in the week.

Following a new round of negotiations, the two clubs reached a verbal agreement that takes the guaranteed fee beyond €100 million. With future bonuses included, the total cost of the transfer could rise to around €115–120 million.

Diomandé has accepted personal terms and is expected to sign a long-term contract running until June 2031.

PSG Withdraw from the Race

Paris Saint-Germain had reached an agreement on personal terms with Diomandé as early as June, but failed to find common ground with Leipzig over the player’s valuation.

That allowed Real Madrid to step in and take full control of the operation. PSG executives decided to withdraw on Sunday night, in line with the club’s new policy of “rational financial management.”

The agreement between Real Madrid and Leipzig is now verbally complete. Diomandé is expected to travel to Madrid later this week to undergo his medical examinations and sign the official documents.

An Important Addition for Mourinho

Diomandé enjoyed an outstanding season with RB Leipzig, recording 12 goals and nine assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances. Those numbers established him as one of the most sought-after young talents in European football.

His arrival will provide head coach José Mourinho with a fast, explosive and creative option on the right wing. The transfer is also expected to bring greater balance to Real Madrid’s attack, which has previously been more dangerous down the left flank.

From Poverty in Abidjan to His Madrid Dream

Yan Diomandé is set to become the first player from Ivory Coast to represent Real Madrid.

His personal story is every bit as remarkable as his rise on the pitch. Diomandé grew up in poverty in Abidjan before moving abroad alone to pursue his football dream.

His childhood idol was Cristiano Ronaldo. Because his family could not afford an official jersey, Diomandé wrote Ronaldo’s name and number on the back of his own shirt by hand.

Now, many years later, he is just one step away from joining Real Madrid—the club where Cristiano Ronaldo wrote one of the most glorious chapters of his career.

From the streets of Abidjan to the Santiago Bernabéu, Diomandé’s childhood dream is on the verge of becoming reality.
