Romero Breaks with Tottenham and Opens the Door to Inter

Cristian “Cuti” Romero considers his time at Tottenham to be over and wants to leave during the summer transfer window. The Argentine defender is one of the leading candidates being considered by Inter to strengthen their defense.

The Nerazzurri continue to search for a top-level center-back who can replace Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi, both of whom have already left the club.

Romero Wants to Leave

His contract with the English club runs until June 30, 2029. Therefore, any interested team must reach a financial agreement with Tottenham.

Inter Have Opened Talks

According to reports from Italy, Inter representatives have already made contact to understand the conditions of a potential transfer.

Romero is coming off an excellent World Cup with Argentina, although his tournament ended with an injury during the second half of the final defeat against Spain.

His technical qualities, aggression and Premier League experience make him a suitable candidate for the Nerazzurri’s defense.

Tottenham Demand a High Fee

Tottenham have not ruled out selling the 28-year-old, but they have no intention of allowing him to leave for a low fee.

Thanks to Romero’s long-term contract, the London club holds a strong negotiating position. His starting valuation is reportedly at least €40 million, while some sources in England claim that Tottenham could demand between £40 million and £50 million.

This remains the main obstacle for Inter, who must carefully assess their financial options before submitting an official offer.

Interest from Spain

Romero is also considering the possibility of a major move to La Liga. Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring his situation, while Barcelona have also included the Argentine among their defensive alternatives.

Rumors of a possible deal involving Chelsea have also circulated in England, although no concrete agreement has been reported so far.

Romero’s desire to leave could help the interested clubs, but Tottenham’s asking price will be decisive. Inter are firmly in the race, and the Argentine appears open to returning to Serie A, where he previously played for Genoa and Atalanta.
