Shkëndija Rules the Derby in Skopje as Tamba’s Brace Sinks Vardar

Shkëndija demonstrated the strength of the champions in the derby against Vardar, securing a 2–0 victory in Skopje and recording their second win in as many league matches.

The Red and Blacks from Tetovo struggled during the first half but raised their intensity after the break and took complete control of the match.

Fabrice Tamba was the undisputed hero. Introduced in the 46th minute, the winger immediately changed the course of the game.

Just six minutes after entering the pitch, Tamba broke the deadlock and gave Shkëndija the lead.

He struck again later in the second half, scoring his second goal of the match and sealing an impressive 2–0 victory for the champions.

Speaking after the game, the Red and Blacks’ hero admitted that the high temperatures had made the match particularly difficult.

“It was a difficult match because of the weather conditions, as it was extremely hot. We came out for the second half with a different mentality. We stepped onto the pitch and showed them that we wanted to win the match—and that is exactly what we did,” Tamba said.

The forward repeated his achievement from two seasons ago, when he also scored in his first appearance against Vardar.

However, he urged the team to keep their feet firmly on the ground and not get carried away by the excitement.

“I would not say that Vardar are a team that particularly suits me. I entered the pitch and showed the attitude the coach demanded and that everyone expected from me. I am very happy to have scored two goals, but now we must remain humble and focus on Thursday’s match.”

The derby victory comes at the perfect time for Shkëndija, who will now turn their full attention to their important European fixture.

Tamba emphasized that the support of the Red and Black fans will be crucial in the upcoming match.

“We must be very strong mentally, and we need everyone behind us. Today, we did not have the opportunity to have our supporters with us, but they will be there on Thursday. We will give everything we have. This victory will help us a great deal.”

With six points from their opening two matches, Shkëndija have made the best possible start to the season and sent a clear warning to their rivals.

The champions are strong once again, hungry for success, and ready to fight for another league title in North Macedonia.
