Sweden continued their impressive campaign in the CEV Women's European Volleyball League 2026 with a convincing 3-1 victory over Austria in Tirana on Saturday evening.
Led by world-class opposite hitter Isabelle Haak, the Scandinavian side secured the win with set scores of 25-13, 25-19, 18-25, 25-16, strengthening their position in the competition and building momentum ahead of this summer's European Championship.
Sweden dominated the opening two sets, displaying superior attacking efficiency and strong defensive organization. Austria struggled to contain the powerful Swedish offense as Haak repeatedly found gaps in the Austrian block.
The Austrians responded impressively in the third set, raising their level and capitalizing on several Swedish errors to claim the frame 25-18 and briefly revive hopes of a comeback.
However, Sweden quickly regained control in the fourth set. With Haak and middle blocker Anna Helvig leading the charge, the Swedes pulled away early and comfortably closed out the match 25-16 to seal a deserved victory.
