NOKIA, Finland – Switzerland responded strongly to their opening setback in the Women's European League, securing an impressive straight-sets victory over Albania with a commanding 3-0 win (25:14, 25:20, 25:18) in Nokia, Finland.

After suffering a narrow and disappointing 3-2 defeat against tournament hosts Finland a day earlier, head coach Lauren Bertolacci's squad showed great determination and composure in their second outing of the competition. The Swiss women controlled the match from start to finish, leaving little opportunity for Albania to challenge their rhythm.

Switzerland established their dominance early by comfortably taking the opening set 25-14. Albania showed greater resistance in the second set, but the Swiss side maintained control and extended their advantage with a 25-20 win. In the third set, Switzerland continued to dictate play, closing out the match 25-18 to seal their first victory of the tournament.

The result provides an important boost for Switzerland as they continue their campaign in the Women's European League. With one win and one defeat from their opening matches, Bertolacci's team remains firmly in contention for a place in the competition's semifinals.

The Swiss national team will now prepare for their home mini-tournament in Kriens next weekend, where they are scheduled to face Georgia on Friday and Austria on Sunday. Every match will be crucial as teams battle for a place among the top four nations in the overall standings.

The Women's European League features 24 participating countries, with qualification for the semifinals determined by a combined ranking after three mini-tournaments and a total of six matches. Switzerland's convincing victory over Albania keeps their hopes alive as the race for the knockout stage intensifies.

For Albania, the defeat represents another difficult challenge against higher-ranked opposition, but the team will look to regroup and improve in the remaining matches of the tournament.
