Türkiye Conquer the Balkans, Winning the BVA U17 Women’s Championship

Türkiye completed an outstanding campaign by winning the BVA U17 Women’s Balkan Volleyball Championship, held over five days in the city of Ferizaj, Kosovo.

The young Turkish players were the tournament’s most consistent team. They combined attacking power with defensive discipline, confirming their status as the competition’s leading favorites.

Their journey to the trophy was not without challenges. The champions faced their toughest test against Montenegro in an exciting contest decided over five sets. Türkiye showed character in the decisive moments and secured a thrilling 3-2 victory.

Montenegro, Türkiye’s strongest rival, completed the competition in second place. Bulgaria claimed the bronze medal, while Albania finished fourth. Host nation Kosovo placed fifth, with Moldova ending the tournament in sixth position.

During the closing ceremony, Kosovo Volleyball Federation president Bahri Gjinovci presented the championship trophy to Turkish captain Selis Ecrin Türkyasar.

It was a double celebration for the Türkiye captain. In addition to lifting the trophy, she was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player following a series of outstanding individual performances.

Beyond the sporting results, the championship was also a major success for the organizers. Ferizaj welcomed six national teams from across the region and became the center of Balkan U17 women’s volleyball for five memorable days.

The Kosovo Volleyball Federation demonstrated its ability to organize international sporting events. The excellent conditions, warm hospitality and smooth running of the matches justified the confidence placed in it by the Balkan Volleyball Association.

Türkiye ultimately departed Ferizaj with the championship trophy, while Kosovo gained another valuable experience as the host of an important Balkan competition.
