Myrto Uzuni emerged as Austin FC’s hero, scoring the decisive goal in a 3-1 victory over Seattle Sounders FC at Q2 Stadium.

The Albanian international found the net in the 86th minute, ending a long wait for the Texas club, which had gone exactly 80 days without an MLS victory.

Austin began the match with great energy and took the lead through Ilie Sánchez in the 11th minute. Seattle responded in the 26th minute, with Paul Rothrock scoring the equalizer.

The score remained 1-1 until the closing stages, when Uzuni stepped into the spotlight. The Albanian striker led Austin’s attack throughout the match and, with four minutes remaining, converted Ervin Torres’ assist to make it 2-1.

Christian Ramírez sealed the victory in the second minute of stoppage time by scoring Austin FC’s third goal.

Uzuni Stars for 90 Minutes

Uzuni delivered an excellent performance and received a match rating of 7.65. He played the full 90 minutes, scored the winning goal and constantly put Seattle’s defense under pressure.

The Albanian striker registered two shots, one of which was on target, and completed 14 of his 16 passes for an accuracy rate of 87.5 percent. He also won three free kicks while dealing with physical pressure from Seattle’s defenders throughout the match.

Uzuni’s positioning and late-game stamina proved decisive. Just as Seattle’s defense began to tire, he read the move perfectly, timed his run and converted Torres’ pass.

Immediately after scoring, Uzuni was shown a yellow card for his passionate celebration.

Six Goals This Season, 12 in MLS

The goal against Seattle was Uzuni’s sixth in 14 appearances during the 2026 season. He is currently Austin FC’s leading scorer, ahead of Christian Ramírez, who has five goals.

Since joining Austin as a Designated Player in January 2025, Uzuni has scored 12 goals in 43 MLS appearances.

During his first season, the Albanian striker recorded six goals and three assists in 29 matches. He has added another six goals in 2026 and has registered four assists overall during his MLS career.

Austin End Their Winless Run

Austin FC had not won an official match since May 3, 2026, when they defeated St. Louis City SC 2-0.

Following that victory, the team recorded one draw and three consecutive defeats. The winless period was extended by MLS’s nearly two-month suspension during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The victory over Seattle ended Austin’s three-match losing streak and restored confidence within the Texas club.

Austin FC now have 17 points, with a record of four wins, five draws and seven defeats. The team sits 14th in the Western Conference, level on points with Portland Timbers, San Diego FC and Colorado Rapids.

Texas Derby Up Next

Austin’s next match will be the heated Texas derby against Houston Dynamo on July 25 at Shell Energy Stadium.

Houston sit seventh in the standings with 23 points, but Austin will make the trip with renewed confidence after returning to winning ways. In the first meeting between the teams this season, Austin secured a 2-0 victory on April 25, with Uzuni scoring the second goal.

The Albanian striker will now look to score against Austin’s Texas rivals once again as his team attempts to turn the victory over Seattle into the beginning of a positive run.

Austin returned to victory after 80 days—and the decisive contribution came from Albania’s Myrto Uzuni!
