By Elite Sport Vizion ·

The first-leg match between KF Vllaznia and KF Malisheva in the opening qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League will be played on 9 July 2026 at the iconic Loro Boriçi Stadium in Shkodër. UEFA officially confirmed the fixture following the qualifying draw.

Match Schedule First Leg: 9 July 2026 – Loro Boriçi Stadium, Shkodër (Albania) Second Leg: 16 July 2026 – Kosovo

This encounter has already been described as a “brotherly derby”, bringing together two Albanian-speaking clubs from neighboring countries in one of the most intriguing ties of the opening round. The winner will advance to the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.

Vllaznia's European Tradition

Vllaznia enters the competition with a rich European pedigree. One of Albania’s oldest and most historic clubs, the Shkodër side has represented Albanian football on the continental stage for decades.

The club made its European debut during the 1978–79 European Cup, facing Austria Vienna. Since then, Vllaznia has competed in almost every major UEFA competition, including the Champions League qualifiers, UEFA Cup/Europa League, Cup Winners’ Cup, Intertoto Cup, and Conference League.

Among the club’s most memorable European achievements was the historic 2-1 victory over Galatasaray in Shkodër in 2001, as well as notable successes against Valletta, Široki Brijeg, and Universitatea Craiova.

Malisheva’s Rapid Rise

While Vllaznia boasts decades of experience, Malisheva represents one of the newest success stories in Kosovan football.

Founded in 2016, the club has enjoyed a remarkable rise through the ranks and made its European debut during the 2024–25 UEFA Conference League campaign.

Their first-ever European match ended in a historic 1-0 victory over Budućnost Podgorica, marking a significant milestone for the young club. Following an excellent domestic season that secured another European qualification, Malisheva now faces its biggest continental challenge yet.

Recent European Form

Vllaznia has struggled to progress deep into European qualifying rounds in recent years:

The Shkodër side will be hoping to end that trend and use its experience to reach the next round.

Key Goalscorers KF Vllaznia Bekim Balaj – Team captain and attacking leader. Ardit Hoxhaj – Scored the winning goal against Linfield in 2023. Lorik Boshnjaku and Kevin Dodaj – Important attacking contributors in recent campaigns. KF Malisheva

With only one European campaign under its belt, Malisheva’s European scoring record remains limited:

The club’s historic first European goal helped secure a 1-0 victory over Budućnost Podgorica. Drilon Hazrollaj remains one of the club’s standout attacking players and a key figure in its domestic success. Experience vs Ambition

The clash between Vllaznia and Malisheva promises to be a fascinating battle between European experience and youthful ambition. Vllaznia carries the weight of history and tradition, while Malisheva arrives eager to continue writing its remarkable story.

On 9 July, the lights of Loro Boriçi Stadium will host a special occasion for Albanian football, as two proud clubs compete for a place in the next stage of the UEFA Conference League.
